Anyone know how I can get Mail to not automatically display PDF files in the body of the email? I want to save the pdf's to the GoodReader app, but can only do that if Mail shows the attachment as an attachment.
Thanks but I got that already and that works for the attachments that are multipage docs. The problem is that Mail is showing the single-page attachments in the body of the email, already opened. When I touch it, the iPad does not recognize it as an attachment since it is already open in the email.
I'm getting the exact same issue, and it's new. Previously, I saw .pdfs - and any other format that I emailed as attachments - as icons. Now I see an actual image of the .pdf in the body of the text.
I don't believe I've changes any settings in email either. I may be setting up a genius appt. for this one, as I'm quite stumped.
I had that issue too, but when I connected to my email servers from good reader the "attachments" that were in the body of the emails came thru to good reader the same way the emails with actual attachments did.
I cannot open PDF attachments in Mail on my iPad unless they are only one page. All I get is the option to copy or save the image. There is no "open in" option, nor does the attachment open up for reading as it does on my iPhone and iPod Touch. I don't recall this happening earlier. That is, I seem to recall being able to read multi-page attachments and other documents before today. This is a very serious bug as I very often need read multipage PDFs. I have GoodReader and a couple similar things. But cobbling together a solution is not what I expected to need to do on a top-end Apple product.
This is exactly the problem I noticed today as well and have not been able to find a solution (other than using AirSharing to transfer the saved attachment from my Mac, which is not a solution if I'm not near my Mac). As a sanity check, I opened the same email (with multipage pdfs attached) on my iPhone, and it behaves properly - that is, the file looks like an attachment and it opens in all of its multi-page glory in the built-in preview screen.
This must be a bug of some sort - hopefully it gets sorted out asap.
Also noticed that if I forward the emai with the PDF to another email address and include the attachments they only receive a small blue square with question mark symbol.
Having the same problem here, seems to have started within the last couple of days. Used to be able to open PDFs within mail, whether only 1 page or multiple pages. Now, PDFs only display an image of first page. I haven't changed any settings. Wonder if this has anything to do with importing photos from my camera, which I did for the first time 2 nights ago?
This is happening to me too. With 1 page or with multipage pdf's. Very frustrating. It started a few days ago.
APPLE, PLEASE HELP !! This is a huge bug.
Help. Same problem. Up until two days ago, I could open a PDF attachment in a different application. Now it only shows as an image of the first page. This problem is unique to my exchange account -- the same email in a different account connected by imap shows up as an atta cement that can be opened in good reader.
Solution to the PDF problem for me. Uninstalled stanza and the problem was fixed. I was surprise, I had stanza for a while before it happened, but I had recently downloaded some books.
