Toolbar keeps randomly hiding

From your Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Show Toolbar.

Try deleting the Safari preference file.

Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.

Relaunch Safari and see if the Toolbar behaves. If so, move that .plist file to the Trash.

Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

What I don't understand is why Apple itself is NOT addressing this issue. I also have tried every suggestion I've found from users, to no avail. I've concluded that the random and frequent disappearance of the toolbar is a defect in Safari itself and Apple has failed to take care of it. Why isn't there a site where Apple's staff answers questions like this.

Because for 99.999% of users that 'issue' has never been seen.

Something in your setup is causing this.

I have the same problem on two different systems even with Safari 5..... Are you using web snapper or Video box from Tastyapps ? or maybe little snapper ? these might be the culprits....

If there was a defect, we all would have it.

Try starting your own thread so others can help you personally with your problem and get to the root of it.

Chalk me up as someone else who IS having this problem. I had it in Safari 4 and it's carried over to 5. It's occurring on my laptop, that doesn't have any hacks installed at all. I've deleted preferences several times without results. I'm looking for suggestions for a fix, too.

My toolbar keeps hiding and it's very annoying. I've installed no third party extensions, ever. It began in safari 4 and it didn't change after upgrading to safari 5.
Post any solutions you get, please.

Apparently people think this is a random/obscure issue. I also have this problem and its very annoying!

My systems are clean and I have had this happen on about 30 different computers that I work on. Its a random thing and I have yet to get it resolved.

I have since gave up and started to use other browsers on my everyday computers. I periodically check online to see if there is a posted solution. To date, nothing recommended or posted has resolved the issue.

So add one more to the list of users that have this problem.

I have just had the same problem - first time its happened
Went to View - Customize Toolbar , and dragged the address bar back into place
closed Safari and then opened again - everything now back in the right place - for how long?
Clearly there is some kind of problem with Safari 5 and 10.6 - hopefully Apple will fix it soon

actually, i've been having this problem going back to some of the latter releases of Safari 4, but you may be right that it started with OSX 10.6.

The disappearing toolbar has only just happened on my iMac Mac OS X 10.6.4 - Safari 5.0.1. I do have WebSnapper? Can anyone confirm whether this is the culprit or not? Someone earlier posted that it could be and then someone else said he had removed his copy of WebSnapper but the random missing toolbar still occurred?

I too have the same problem. Don't recall having it in 4 but it happens often in 5.0.1. So add me to the list
