upgrading to iTunes9 (HRESULT: 0X8007054F)

I attempted to upgrade to iTunes9, but it will not install.

I get the following message:

*An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F.*

Has anyone else had this problem? And how have you fixed it?

These ones are related to underlying problems with the PC that can also cause problems with downloading Windows Updates. So my main strategy with them is to try to treat the Windows Update failures, which can clear up the iTunes installation trouble en passant.

Head into Windows Update and open your Update History. Have updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the failure records to bring up a small box with more information. What error codes have you been getting for the Windows Update failures? Are they also 0x8007054F or something different? If they are different, what codes have you been getting?
