"The iPhone cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found"

Can anyone PLEASE shed some light and - hopefully - help me... I used to be able to sync my iPhone with iTunes no problem... dead easy.

However, for some unknown reason - total mystery - all of a sudden it's started to 'refuse me'. Now, when I connect up, the things seems to go all through the motions of syncing, but at the end I finally get the following message:

"The iPhone "Dani's iPhone" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found".

Funny thing is that after disconnecting, the thing does actually seem to have successfully synced!!!

It's a mystery, a puzzle... can anyone help? I don't know what is meant by "The required file cannot be found". What's happening?

Has anyone else encountered this problem and have they managed to solve it? If so, please, PLEASE... HOW?

Thanks,

Dani

Without going to above link, here are the instructions:

1. go to home folder in finder
2. open pictures folder
3. right click on iphoto library and click on show package contents
4. Find "ipod photo cache" file and drag to desktop
5. Close finder
6. Reopen itunes and sync ipad
7. The ipod photo cache rebuilds itself

THANKS Notti.

Hi all,

For anyone interested, after posting this same query on the iTunes discussion forum, I received the following response from "B-rock", which cleared my problem completely.

"Hello NottiCaldo,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I would start by trashing your iPod's Photo cache as described in this Apple support document.

Problem sorted.

This worked for me, too. Using an +iPhone 4+, +iTunes 10+ and +iPhoto 8.1.2+. Without even opening iPhoto, I ran iTunes, synced and it "replaced" the photos on my iPhone with the new ones and you could watch the status window tell you how many photos it was optimizing. It left the Camera Roll alone.

This happened to me after replacing my iPhone 4 after an accident and restoring from the previous iPhone's backup.
