iBook 500 power cord won't charge or power up computer

Hi,

When I plug my iBook 500 into the apple power supply the light ring lights up but the ibook doesn't get any power or charge the battery. Does this sound like a power cord/supply problem or does it sound like a problem with the DC-in board?

With the ring lighting up I'm leaning towards power cord/supply problem.

Have you tried resetting the PMU?

The PMU (Power Management Unit) controls the charging function, so resetting it may help.

If that doesn't help, replacing the DC-in board is fairly complicated. Instructions for the 12-inch iBook G3 (Dual USB) can be found here:
