iBook 500 power cord won't charge or power up computer

Hi,

When I plug my iBook 500 into the apple power supply the light ring lights up but the ibook doesn't get any power or charge the battery. Does this sound like a power cord/supply problem or does it sound like a problem with the DC-in board?

With the ring lighting up I'm leaning towards power cord/supply problem.

What color is the ring on the adapter when it lights up?

It sounds more like a DC-in board problem to me, especially if the ring lights up green.

Have you tried resetting the PMU?

The PMU (Power Management Unit) controls the charging function, so resetting it may help.
