iPhone headphones should work fine on your iPad. Make sure they are pushed all of the way in.

My Apple iPhone in-ear headphones work fine with the iPad. Sounds like they are not fully inserted.

I have tried to insert various headphones into the port and all come up short including apple headphones. Am I doing something wrong or is the port defective? I am hesitant about trying to put too much pressure and force it in further. I live quite a distance from an Apple store but may take the trip to evaluate.

The port is a snug fit.
I had to push kinda hard--I expect it will loosen up with time.

I use the in ear head phones supplied with my little iPod and they work fine. So does the mic. You really have to push hard to "snap" the connector in. It makes a "click" you can hear when it is properly seated.

My Bose headphones plug into my iPod but they do not plug into my iPad. What is up with that? Do I have a defective iPad?

I tried all my headphones with my iPad, none worked .... so it looks like I'll have to buy a new set. I was wondering if anyone on these forums had tried the Sennheiser PXC 310 BT .... if so, does the cable jack that comes with it fit into the iPad and work? (you can go either bluetooth or wired with these Sennheiser's).

Make sure they are seating correctly. Since the jack is new, it may take an extra push to get the headphone jack seated all the way in.

They are excellent on sound and the cord has built in volume control and you can answer the phone feature with them as well and sounds good for using PHONE with IPAD. let me know if you need further info.

My Bose headphhones work fine.

I have found that it is hard to beat over the ear phones compared to ear buds.

I have high quality sets of both but much prefer the over the ear if you don't mind wearing them.
