Flow Charts

Pages can do flowcharts although with difficulty. My first choice for this would be [OmniGraffle.|http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7024/omnigraffle]

In Pages create shapes and or textboxes from your toolbar.

Insert text into shapes by double clicking in them and pasting or typing.

To connect the boxes select 2 or more:

+Menu > Insert > Connection Line+

To format colors, backgrounds, lines, arrrowheads etc

+Inspector > Graphic > Fill/Stroke/etc+

Hi Peter,

I believe that Insert Connection Line is only available if exactly 2 objects are selected. You can add additional connections, but to only one pair of boxes at a time.

Hi fruhulda,

The information in the link you posted seems to be out of date. It states that connection lines are not supported in Pages. That was true for Pages 08, but not for Pages 09.

Hmm so it would appear again that the money I spent on iWork (buy it with your imac and it's half price - today only!!) was money down the drain.

I wonder how they draw flowcharts at apple? or is that beneath them?

As a buyer you should test if the product does what you need. iWork does have a 30 days test version. iWork isn't a suite with a specific flow chart application. There are other applications better suited like Omnigraffle. But you still can make flow charts, right?

In my experience has Apple never advocated for application that can do everything and a little more, but instead preffered using several smaller applications doing the job.

It was hardly money down the drain, you got 3 excellent programs very cheaply.

You may need to look for better solutions for some details but the whole deal will cost you a lot less than paying for MsWord, which seems to have a rather small fanclub.
