Multiple Genres for one song

I am not sure if this topic has been covered, as I have had a look and not finding an answer.

I use iTunes as a music catalogue system. I want to be able to use multiple genres for each song, if possible.

I want to use something like this:-

Rock / 70's / 1975.

If someone or anyone can point me in the right direction, i would be most happy.

Thanks in Advance.

iTunes doesn't work like this, each distinct value you enter in the genre field becomes a new custom genre and each track will only be listed under one such genre. Same goes for Artist. What you can do is use the grouping or comments fields to hold as many different "tags" as you wish and then build smart playlists that pick up those different tags as you need.

Yes you can do that, simply by typing it into the Genre field. When you create your smart playlists, note that a genre of "Rock / 70's / 1975" will not match on Genre is Rock. But it will match on Genre contains Rock.

You may also want to simplify your life a bit by using the Genre field for the genre and the Year field for the Year.
