There has been a pesky file hanging around my hard drive that I don't want to delete out of fear for my computer. The folder is simply /CVS and it has the files Entries, Repository, and Root within. Each file is only about 4kb, but I don't like the file cluttering up my hard drive. Is this CVS file necessary and supposed to be hidden or can it be safely deleted?
Those are configuration files for the CVS configuration management program. It is something that normally only a programmer would use. You must have downloaded and expanded some open-source software tool. If you don't know what CVS is, you don't need these files and you can safely delete them.
Thank you, etresoft, that is what I needed to hear. I knew it had something to do with programming, but I did not know whether I could hurt some root hardware.
