After weeks of operation at home, my iPad can not reconnect to the internet. Connect to wifi, IP address is 169.254.181.xxx, subnet mask 255.255.0.0. I have 3 other devices that are able to connect. Safari message reads: “Cannot open page safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet”
Have a Verizon FiOS Router, Actiontec MI424WR, WEP. I’ve rebooted router, renew lease, reset network settings, debug console finds no errors, tried proxy off , tried proxy auto and restarted the device with no luck. Don’t think it a router firm issue because this has worked for several weeks. Any suggestions?
I have the same FIOS router and had the same problem. Verizon suggested I use WPP or WPA2 wireless security. (WEP does not work well with some Apple products. WPA is more secure than WEP, but is the default Verizon setup.) I change my router to WPA security and my WiFi connection works much better. I also followed these 5 step suggested by Apple. If I lose my connection to the server, sometimes just step 5 quickly solves the problem for me.
1. Be sure your router's firmware is up to date
2. Use WPA or WPA2 wireless security (more secure than WEP)
3. Adjust you iPad's screen brightness
4. Renew IP address
5. Turn WiFI on and off on your iPad
