Moving-need temporary wifi.

Moving from CA to Cheyenne, WY. Will be a few months there before getting house, settled, etc. so I don't want to get a contract there that I may want in a bundle once we're settled for cell, wireless, internet, etc.. I have an ipad that would be superhelpful househunting i.e. maps, house specs, etc. Is there a way to (without contracts) have wifi anywhere I take it? It's NOT 3g (it was a gift so I didn't get to choose). How can I access the wireless on the ipad without having to be at Starbucks? Surely there's a mobile wireless something it works with? Help! Note, the place we'll stay will have wireless already, but not for the ipad when we're out househunting, obviously OR enroute during the move. I have AT&T cell, a Treo 650 if that makes any difference to anything. I'll keep that for a bit once we get there. Thanks!
