From the moment I turned on my brand new IPad, it would randomly restart. No, it doesn't just go to sleep, it restarts - apple logo and all. There is no observable trigger and even though I said it was random there may actually be predictable time intervals - just not sure at this point.

I am in contact with tech support on this. There initial suggestion to reinstall the OS didn't work. It may be time to box it up and send it back.

IPad MB294LL (64GB), Version 3.2 (7B367)

If you've reset to factory settings and it still does it, I'd return it.
To reset go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. Warning: This will delete all data on the ipad.

Good diagnostic suggestion. I went to settings -> reset -> erase content and settings and wipes the IPad clean. Even wiped clean it still restarted all by itself. The IPad also continued to restart during the setup with ITunes and during the sync process.

It's beginning to look like a lemon.

Not sure if this applies, but I noticed that when I tried to turn off my iPad while it was charging to the wall outlet, it would continue to restart itself. The only time it's stayed turned off is if it isn't plugged in to anything.

I think we're all seeing that but I think the OP means that it is just randomly re-booting. I had an iphone that did this and Apple diagnostic found a faulty bootrom. I'd take it back.

    Good Afternoon,

I have just received an Ipad Wifi Only 64Gb and it keeps rebooting, without any particular pattern.

    Would anybody have any idea?

    Thanks in advance

I have this problem as well. I even swapped my ipad. It's still happening. Must be a setting issue.

My Ipad was keept restarting when I was opening my saved images folder. I deleted all the images from the folder and started saving them some more, but It did not start restarting.

I am confused by this behaviour.

Might be your case some app might be causing this.

Yep I also have this problem. Repeated re-starts with no obvious trigger. Very disappointing; would be good at least to get an acknowledgement from Apple that there is a problem. But then, they'd be admitting there is a problem.

Interesting that in the OS droplist for submitting this reply, there is no iPad option...

In my case, it didn't matter if it was plugged in to a power source or not. It would restart with me even touching it.

I doubt it is a setting issue. How could it be when you can take it out of the box and have it restart before it have even finished synchronizing with ITunes? I think that it is a hardware problem and that Apple has a very large number of units with this defect and that when you exchanged yours, you simply got another one from the same bad batch. It's Apple's problem and it is a quality control issue.

Same problem here. It is quite frustrating.

Since you've restored the iPad, I'd recommend making a Genius Bar appt at the closest Apple Retail Store and see if their diagnostic tests can figure out what the issue is. If there isn't one nearby, give Apple phone support a call and they should be able to arrange for a replacement.

I have the same issue. I purchased the iPad on the first day available, it happened after almost every sync, and I took it back and exchanged it the next day. It kept happening, so I reset, restored three times (trying both combinations) and it still happened. I took it back to the genius bar, exchanged it again, and it is still doing it. My iPhone works fine.
I wish there was an answer to this.

    Me too

I had my iPad for 10 days or so, just using the WiFi, then went out and signed up for a sim. Plugged the sim in, 30 minutes later it started rebooting over and over. Turning it off, resetting etc did not work, until I did a complete erase.
Got it home, plugged into iTunes, which told me I needed an update for my provider, so I assumed that was it.
Re-installed everything, used it for 2 days, just got it sorted out again, then this afternoon - same thing. Constantly restarting.

I'm not erasing it this time, I'll leave it restarting until I get home and can plug it into iTunes again and see what happens.
