Multiplying a Clip

I'm not sure exactly what to call it, but I want to take a clip for 5 seconds, than have 2x2 of the same clip (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) for a few seconds, than a 4x4 grid, etc... Is there an easy way to do this? Maybe a plugin of some sort...

Thanks!

You can do it brute force with multiple copies on separate video tracks, each scaled and positioned independently, or you can learn how to use tile filters in either FCP or Motion.
It's the finesse of such effects that elevate them form the hacks anyone can do: borders, transitions, timing.
