newton - wi-fiable to use as salling clicker for airtunes?

Hi
I have (somewhere) a newton from about 1997, and wondered whether it would be feasible to get it wi-fi'ed up so as to use a remote control for airtunes, to use in a differne t room to the computer, maybe using the salling clicker or soemthing similar. Has this been done before?, if so, are there details on the web anywhere?

I see newtons are fairly cheap, so even if it doesnt work on my model, can anyone suggest a model it might work on?

Am reluctant to by a palm, and my mobile phone only has bluetooth, which hasnt got the necessary reach for my long-ish flat.

Grateful for any help

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

Yes, provided your Newt has at least OS2.0 you can buy a wi-fi PCMCIA card and the drivers for it. But beware, only certain cards will work and the software is shareware ($10). Look at http://www.ff.iij4u.or.jp/~ngc/eng/newtwave.htm. also http://www.kallisys.com/newton/morewifi/. As far as Newton model is concerned - the later the better! So you should look for a 2000, an upgraded 2000, or a 2100.
You can also get a Bluetooth card and drivers by the way.
As far as using it as a remote I can't help there but I suggest you start your research at www.unna.org and look on the wikiwikinewt. Post your question on Newtontalk if you need more info.
Good Luck
