Burning Fail, Unknown Error 4550

Hi,

I've wasted about 4 CDs today trying to back up my iTunes purchases 😟 I have never had this problem burning before, I have tried memorex discs and Philips CD/R. The disc begins to burn, saves the track information (title, length etc) then I get a message saying the burn has failed and it will take a few minutes to stop the process.

Any idea what's going on?

On doing a broader internet search, I found a site that suggested I go to Edit, Preferences and 'burning' to check that my disc drive was being recognised... well, I don't even HAVE a tab labeled burning :o So could this have something to do with it? I have just reinstalled an updated version of itunes, so everything is up to date. I'm really lost... and very frustrated!

After wasting a bunch of brand-name discs like you did years ago, I decided to quit iTunes for burning any backups. Esepcially after I tried to test my backup strategy, and none of the iTunes discs would restore properly.

Thank goodness I backed up my important files like normal. Through Windows Exploder.
