HP Photosmart Premium C309G - Wont Print

Can anyone help. Bought new HP photosmart All in One Printer and MAc wont recongnise driver.
Installation went OK. My Mac is 10.6.3 version. (new)
Unable ot Scan or Print in Colour.

System will only use the Generic Laser Mono Laser.

Spec's of printer is compatiable to Mac 10.6. I have also download most recent drivers from Hp.

Looking for guidance.

IMAC, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

It shouldn't have been necessary to install anything since the driver was installed wiht Snow Leopard: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US. What version of the software did you install?

When you add the printer, are you given the choice of selecting a ppd, or is done automatically? Are you able to choose the ppd for the 309?

Have you run Software Update after installing and setting up the printer to see if there was an HP Printer Driver update? AFAIK, the OS is smart enough to detect a newly connected printer and determine if it needs an update.

I find HP Photosmart C309a Series driver supplied by Apple, but not a HP Photosmart C309g Series.
Must be to new for listing on the Apple site.
I wonder if you could use the a series driver?

Looked again in the printer setup and found that it does have the C309g driver.
The computer should see it when adding a printer.
Goto System Preferences>Printers and Faxes> and add + a printer and see if it sees your 309.

Thanks for you advice. When adding printer system automatically selected.
Unable to choose ppd.

I have used the Generic Mono Driver to Print. Wont recognose Colour Printing.

Have been onto HP Customer care and have latest patches. All update.
This is my second HP Printer. It could be a problem with my Mac which I cannot understand as it is only 3 months old.

Yes. Have even been in touch with HP Customer Care and got all latest patches.

This is my second Hp Printer.

Now wondering if my Mac is problem whic I cannot understand as it is only 3 Months Old.

Hi Don,
Yes the system found C309G and installed OK. However it wont print.

I can used the Generic Driver Ok however will only print in Black.

I have just bought the HP Photosmart Premium and it won't scan - keep getting failures and it won't print or copy in colour. The lack of copying in colour makes me think there is something wrong with the printer itself.
