Q: Bluetooth Apple Magic Mouse jumps and moves erraticlly on screen

Hello,

I am having problems with my Magic Mouse (cursor, pointer) jumping around on my screen when i attempt to use it. I checked preferences and the connection is fine. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so how do we remedy this annoying problem?

iMac 27" 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Do you own a pet? My iMac developed the exact same problem. After close inspection of the mouse I found a very fine cat's hair stuck across the led lens... Gave it a good clean and it's working as new...

I've used at least four Magic Mice with it least as many Macs (new and older iMacs and a fairly recent MacBook Pro) and have experience jumpiness on all of them. I'll be editing a page in InDesign or Acrobat and suddenly the document jumps forward 10 pages. In Photoshop the focus will suddenly shoot halfway across the image canvas. A fairly recent problem has been when I've been entering a size in the measurement palette when all of a sudden the numbers take on a life of their own and start scrolling to infinity. Most all of my problems are with CC programs because that's what I use most, but Office can also become so flaky that my wife refuses to use the Magic Mouse on her iMac.

Same problem on Mac Mini with both Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad. All purchased February 2014. Latest editions.

I've just experience exactly the same irritating problem. However, the solution is really simple. Just give the little optic a thorough and careful clean with a tissue or glass cleaning cloth and bingo, everything is back to normal. Best of luck.

I was having this issue today and I simply unplugged my usb speaker phone and magically it went away.  Someone earlier in this thread mentioned similar solution.

Just purchased magic2 mouse. It works properly only when wifi is turned off on my macboook pro.

Else it is jumpy as well as keeps losing connect.

PLEASE HELP. Looks like Apple stopped worrying about quality of products. This is my third mouse in last 2 years.
