I synch my iPad with a desktop that has my iTunes library on an external drive. I'm currently on the road with my Macbook Pro and have some .mp4 work files that I'd like to view on my iPad. Is there a way to transfer them to the iPad without synching (since that wouldn't be good!)
Note that I also have the Camera Connection kit and am willing to buy 3rd party file management apps if relevant. Thx!
If they are in a iPad compatible format then all you have to do is drag those files onto your iPad icon in iTunes. They will then copy over to your iPad.
The camera connection kit may work if you place the mp4 files in a folder titled "DCIM". The IPad looks for that folder when the kit is used and askes if yo want to download files that the kit supports.
I forgot to add that you have to turn on the option to manually manage music and videos to do my solution. You could do this as a temporary way to copy the files over and then if you want to remove them just turn syncing on again later.
Another solution is to stream the files wirelessly using a program like AirVideo. I have this program and it works great. The only thing is your computer would have to be on and both have to be on a wireless network together.
