Can the ipod touch get viruses?

I have an ipod touch and have surfed the web with it using the wifi feature and before I synce it to my computer again, I was wondering if the ipod touch could get viruses or spyware from using the wifi to surf the web. If so, will syncing the ipod touch to my computer also sync a virus or spyware to my computer? Thanks for the help!
