How do I get safari to pronounce selected text?

I could have sworn on my last laptop that there was a feature in safari where I could highlight text and then go to the safari>services>speak selected text (or something similar to that) then it would pronounce the text back to me with the "Alex" universal access voice. I just got a new laptop and I can't find that feature anywhere in safari. Can someone help me out?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 4 gb ram

Hi Caleb,

Open System Preferences/Keyboard then select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab.

Select Services on the left.

I don't see the Services for Safari in the window. Your last laptop may have been running an older version of Safari that supported that feature.

Might be able to find a workaround here. http://www.apple.com/accessibility/macosx/vision.html

Third party software for accessibility here. http://www.apple.com/accessibility/resources/macosx.html
