As of 29/5/10 My 3 Imap accounts have suddenly stopped working from Apple Mail App. I have deleted, set up again and again without any luck. All settings online are correct. SSL is on.... just says “imap.gmail.com” refused to allow a connection on port 993. Pain in di arse!
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I will struggle on using my browser for now.
10.5.8 Xserve OD Master,eMacs, ibooks, MacBooks,
Mac OS X (10.5.5),
10.5.8 Server on PPC XServe(services running AFP,NFS, OD) Clients=10.3.9 to 10.6.3
I am having the same problem on MacBook Pro running 10.6.3 not syncing [since April 28 2010] ONE of three IMAP Gmail accounts in Apple Mail, however iMac running 10.5.8 is still syncing all 3 accounts.
Have just been using Gmail thru a browser, haven't tried to troubleshoot anything in fear of messing up the other 2 that are working fine.
interesting to hear that quite a number are having this same issue. Its rolling into the third week of failure with no headway to a solution.... surely someone has got a solution by now. My head is hurting !
It seems to be either something with the mac Im using or the version of Mail in 10.6.3/4. I have just tried on an old emac running OS 10.4.11 and Mail ver 2.1.3 and guess what?... It works? Why? What is causing this breakdown in communication between Mail ver 4.3 and the GMail IMAP servers???
Ben, this is a group dedicated to specific piece of Apple hardware for mass storage and has nothing to do with Mail or Gmail or anything else in your posts. If you're looking for a solution you'll have much better chance of finding it in a more appropriate forum than you do here.
I had the same problem after downloading mail 4.3 and osx 10.6.4... but then by chance (trying to sort another issue) I added to the IMAP Path Prefix : IMAP... type this in and save. You will lose all folders got gmail.
Then go back in and erase IMAP from the IMAP Path Prefix... it then worked.. back in business.
Do not ask me how this worked.. I honestly did nothing else... but it worked!
I hope this works for everyone else!
Under "Resolution", follow the link in step 3. It will tell you that you have the account open in too many places, but I know I didn't. In any case, it appears to have fixed the problem and I can now send and receive Gmail through Mail.
