Can't stream movies to my bluray player?

Whether you are trying to connect your Sony Blu-ray player by wire or wireless, I would suggest that you first check the user guide and/or Sony's support site on how to connect it to a network.

The AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), as you already know, provides both wired and wireless clients with network/Internet access as its primary function is a router.

I can't quite make out from your statements if you are having trouble figuring out how to configure the network settings on the player or that you can but are unable to connect to the AEBSn? If it is the latter, does the player get network access if connected to the AEBSn by Ethernet?

Generally networked BluRay players, gaming consoles, TVs, etc don't look for "files" on hard drives. They rely on computers been configured as media servers to "server" the media files to the players so you can watch them.

You can't configure your AXn to stream video from the hard drive.
