Will installing Leopard solve my safari problems?

I gave up on Safari with Tiger. I got an auto update and clicked ok and safari never opened again. I tried all the suggestions of this forum at the time, gave up and used my Firefox. I did everything but reinstall from original c.d. I removed Safari from my computer. Now I am buying Leopard. Will this put a new copy on and solve my problem?

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions...

Will this put a new copy on and solve my problem?

Not necessarily, especially since you "gave up with Tiger". If you had problems with the previous system then it's possible the startup disk needs repairs.

Check your startup disk for errors that may need repairing before upgrading to another Mac OS X.

Insert your install disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart

While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window. Where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 10% to 15% free disk space*

Make sure your Mac meets Leopard's minimum requirements

Everything tested out normal. When the original c.d. refused to load Safari because Of "a more recent copy" I spent an hour tracking down everything with safari in the name and trashing. I thought I already had them all. Then the original Safari did install and runs. I'm leaving it until after I install Leopard
Not a very technical solution but it did work.

Will installing Leopard solve my safari problems?
