New iPad completely died, kicked the bucket, joined the choir celestial,

OK I have a dead iPad. It showed 100% charged when I worked on it a few minutes ago. I tried to turn it on again and nothing happens. The screen is black. No response to any buttons. iTunes will not see it when I plug it into the computer so I assume it is irrevocably and totally dead.

I can't find any clues in the Apple documents as to what to do next.

Anybody? If you have a clue (and not a guess) could you please help?

Have you tried simultaneously holding down the lock button and home button for at least 10 seconds?
