Need advice on setting up 2 crucial C300 256gb SSD Raid 0 on a macpro 2008
hello,
I have just ordered two crucial C300 256GB Sata 6GB drives and I intend to raid 0 them for streaming heavy sample library.
I own a 2008 macpro 2.8ghz with 16gb of ram and snow leopard. all 4 drives are occupied.
My original plan was to take the DVD drive out(get an external one later) and mount both ssds in that area. Then I would power them with a 4 pin to Sata power connected to the apple IDE cable and then get two Sata cables and connect them to the unused two extra Sata ports located On the motherboard.
My second choice though is since the c300s are Sata3 6Gb. I was considering going with a *Maxpower sata3 6Gb PCIe* controller with two ESATA thats E-sata not sata on the card. and then get two Sata to esata cables and connect the drives to the maxpower card. I'm not sure its a wise way of installing them which is why I'm asking.
My third choice is to go for the new *HighPoint RocketRAID 622 PCI-Express 2.0* which provides two internal Sata3 6GB instead of Esata on the outside and then I would instead buy two normal Sata cables and just connect both drives to the two internal Sata ports of the highpoint card. but I was reading that the highpoint cards aren't as good as they are claimed to be which if i might need confirmation on that?
So that's where I'm confused and I'm not sure which is the best option, first second or third?
