A drop will break the glass if it is of any significant direct impact on the glass. Even the wrong amount of innertia can cause the glass or the crytals to shatter. If the machine falls on its metal fram where the logicboard is, the glass is less likely to shatter. But if it falls directly on the LED frame it is much more likely to shatter.
Suffice it to say, while it isn't shatter proof, it is relatively durable when compared to let's say Spode china.
The user manual gives you some guidelines on the strength of it. But I would not for a moment try to test fate with it. Carry the machine with both hands, or use a properly protected case with the machine turned off when moving it about. Do not let cables dangle in such a position that pets, kids, or people can trip on the cable and bring the machine crashing down on the floor, or a drawer. The warranty is for factory defects. Nowhere does it say it is shatterproof, nowhere does it say it is drop proof, and nowhere does it say it is totally bump proof. Be careful with it. You just spent a significant sum of money on it. Treat it like you value it.
