iTunes keeps saying that the device has timed out when syncing...

Ive been trying to copy all of my music, films, tv shows and apps to my 16gb iphone 3g on the firmware 3.1.3. Ive had no problems with syncing up till now. It'll sync a couple songs but then it will say, device timed out...Does anyone know why this is, how this is happening and how to fix it...I need help becuase this has been bothering me for about a week now and im useless with evreything apple, ive just got into all the apple stuff after being a devoted pc man! But, this is on a pc running on windows 7, with the itunes for win 7 32 bit, no problems until now...HELP!!! Thanks,
