connecting imac and apple tv?

1) i heard you can connect apple tv and any imac wireless, if its true does anybody knows how many feet or its range

2) is it possible to record tv programs or console game plays from tv to imac by using apple tv? plzz help before i pay $200 for nothing lol

imac, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

An Apple TV does now display onto an iMac. It connects wirelessly to transfer content between iTunes on the iMac and the Apple TV.

An Apple TV cannot record TV programs. It does not contain a TV tuner. Essentially an Apple TV is an iPod that uses a TV as its interface.

2. You can record tv shows using an eye tv stick on your mac, shows can be pre-programmed and will automatically become available to the tv after they are recorded.
