Is that different that auto-lock? If you set the auto-lock time in the General Settings the iPad will go dark when idle that amount of time. I assume that's sleep.
My Ipad is still winging its way to me so I can't speak for sure. But I regularly use the Clock app on my iphone to shut it down after xx hours and minutes. Clock.app, timer tab and choose sleep rather than an alarm sound.
That's part of the question, the iPad doesn't come with the Clock app.
So this may be a combination of a timer app that quits after X time and the built in auto-lock as Eddie mentioned. Need to see what the different timers/clocks can do.
No. There are no clock or alarm apps that run in the background. Though they are not all clear about that in their descriptions. One developer stated that there were none because the iPad does not have that.capability yet.
I use Nightstand, wiich does have an option to shut off the iPod after up to two hours, but you have to leave the clock on all night. There are choicesnfor the clocks, one of which is just hands and dots on the quarter hours. But I rarely use it because I don't want to risk screen burn-in.
Send Apple a letter telling them how displeased you are that the clock was not included, that was what I was told to do ** both Apple Care and the Genius Bar people.
