iPad restore

Has anybody tried restoring the iPad as of yet?

Everytime I do so, I get stuck in recovery mode with an error 1014 - Unknown error. I tried iRecovery and it worked and I was happy I wouldn't have to return it for another one.

Thing is, if I restore again, from iTunes, it goes back to the same error message and enters the recovery mode loop. This has happened thrice now.

BTW, I tried everything from formatting my Macbook to fresh iTunes to different USB cables to numerous other Macs and PC's, before trying iRecovery. It comes up with the exact same error, even on XP and Vista laptops!

So, is there somebody here who has successfully 'Restored' their iPad to its original settings from the iTunes in their computers?

Or is this something which will be addressed with a future iTunes update?

P.S. Haven't jailbroken.

I redid the iRestore thing, got it into normal mode, reset all settings and tried restoring again. Still with the 1404.

Could anyone please tell me what this error means?

I could attach a log if there are some engineers here who could help out.

Don't restore it. Add as a new iPad. There is something wrong with your backup file. None of your apps, photos or music will be lost, but it will take some time to re-add them.
