How do I alphabetize bookmarks in Safari?

The description of the product says it isn't compatible with Tiger so I doubt it would be compatible with Leopard and SL.

Yep, you're probably right, but the description also talks about Bookdog. To bad I didn't look closer the first time.

I took a look at Bookdog too but I wasn't about to pay $20+ for it. I'm going to hold out until Apple includes it in Safari, until then I'll manually alphabetize them.

I think some people here have used Saft --
But then lots of people have reported problems with Saft, as well.

The question should be, why doesn't Safari have an excellent bookmark organizer. Brousers were invented as a way to keep information straight. The bookmarks should be in a fairly complete, controllable database.

How do we get the message to Apple? Start buying what other Brouser?

Maybe instead of ranting on the Apple Discussion Forums and using the feedback site to tell Apple your idea you might get a lot further.

"What I did was open the Bookmarks window (Bookmarks: Show All Bookmarks), put the links I wanted to alphabetize into a folder, and then dragged that folder into the Finder. "robg adds: When you drag the folder back, you'll now have two folders, the original and the sorted one. Just delete the original, and you're set. You can also do this without first creating a Safari folder. Just select all the bookmarks to be alphabetized, drag them into a new folder in the Finder, open that folder (make sure it's set to sort by name or use column view), then drag the now-sorted bookmarks back into Safari's Bookmarks window. Again, you'll have duplicates, so just delete the originals (which will be grouped above the newly-placed list). I wonder if any of this is scriptable..."
