Best Bluetooth headphones for iPad?

I'm looking to purchase Bluetooth headphones for my iPad. Anyone have any good suggestions or ones to stay away from?

HP, Windows Vista, Itouch 16g. iPad

I've been happy with my Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 Bluetooth headphones, which I've been using with my iPhone. I'm receiving my iPad next week and I assume they'll be fine for it also. I like the fact that they fit over the ear as opposed to just in the ear, but that is a matter of preference and perhaps the physical characteristics of your ears.

I recently took delivery of a Plantronics 903/906 Bluetooth headset and after charging paired it with my iPad. I watched a movie and closed the apple video application and switched off the bluetooth in the iPad settings and found that my headphones had stopped responding ... no lights, unable to charge etc.

I spoke to Plantronics technical support via phone who stated that my headset was faulty and needed replacement. I returned the headphones to the place of purchase and was sent a completely new Backbeat 903/906. I received them today.. Again after a 3 hour charge, I paired the headphones with my ipad and watched a movie. After closing the apple video app and switching off the bluetooth in the iPad settings I found that all lights had gone off on my Plantronics headset and once again it was unresponsive and dead as a dodo.

After research it appears that switching off the bluetooth within the ipad settings whilst the headset is still connected is the cause of this issue but I have also discovered that there are two ways to bring the headset back to life.

The first option is to try a hard reset - this is done by holding down the power on button on the headset itself and then plugging it into its powered-up charger. after a few seconds the set should return to normal working condition. If that fails then the next step is to leave it disconnected from the charger for approx. 15-24 hours whilst the battery discharges itself and then once again try the hard reset procedure as above. Hopefully this should solve the issue.

Failing all the manufacturer's offer a two year guarantee, so hold onto that receipt just in case.

Hope this helps others who stumble across the issue by the way the Plantronic headphones are an excellent build and great sound quality. As long as you disconnect (switch off) the headset, before turning off bluetooth in the iPad settings, they should continue to work fine.

By the way AVRCP protocol is not built into ipad which allows the skipping to next/previous track so that will not work on any bluetooth headset device... I assume that apple have commented out that piece of code from the bluetooth standard as they want their users to switch tracks on their apple device rather than the headset... this ensures users have their device on display and so promote advertising of the apple products. A bit of a pain to get the ipad out the briefcase on a busy train just to have someone threaten to rob it from me !! Lets hope apple see sense and introduce AVRCP in the next version of the IOS operating system.
