QuickTime X vs QuickTime Pro

I really enjoyed the QuickTime Pro export and edit functions - it was quick just to fx cut the video track out and export a .wave from a .mov movie - or custom export options.

After the Snow Leopard update a lot of changes have been done with QT - and it is now called QuickTime X , i like the design of the player but not the properties!

A lot of good stuff from the QTPro on Leopard has been removed - and now there is only this "Save As" function witch is an totally idiot safe way of exporting your video. The advanced and custom settings is gone and that ****** me , because i was really happy for QTPro as a small quick compressor / exporter .

I also read a lot of posts of people who bought QTP registration but couldn't register any place.
And I cant install QuickTime 7 one a my mac - it says that i already have a QuickTime X - But i simply just want QuickTime PRO.

Anyone who have the same problems as me and have fixed them or someone who might know a solution - please help

Thanks for you time

Check your "~/Applications/Utilities" folder. If you had QT 7 pro installed prior to your Snow Leopard upgrade, then the QT 7 Pro player should have been installed in this location automatically.

This is normal when you try to install the Leopard version of QT v7.6.6. Snow Leopard requires a special variation of QT 7.6.6 which is designed to work under the dual 32-/64-bit version of the QT structure embedded in Snow Leopard.

If QT 7 was not automatically installed, then you would have to either installl the Snow Leopard version included in the "extras" installed package on the Snow Leopard upgrade disc or your can download the current QT 7.6.6 for OS X v10.6.3 if you have already upgraded to this OS level.

It's appalling that Apple should release this without at least a heads up to pro app users. It is clearly aimed at the domestic rather than pro user.

Personally, I think that the whole of 10.6 is a pile on dumbed down rubbish. I am certain my MBP is now slower overall. Thankfully I haven't installed it on my Mac Pro tower, where I do the majority of my work.

I am a broadcast offline & online editor and there is a rumor going round our industry that Apple intend to stop producing Pro based hardware and software, to concentrate on the toys like iPads and iPhones which have a higher profit margin.

I guess Quicktime 10 is just an early sign of this.
