Audio Problem on my Project

I created a movie. When I watch it on the Mac, the sound is perfect.
When I export it to either Apple TV, or DVD, or the Ipad, I randomly get some audio track during the course of the movie. They come from movie clip that are somewhere else in the video. I turned all the audio of all the clips to OFF because I only use music. This is driving me crazy. Worked a long time on this video and it is prettty much impossible to watch because of those audio bits coming out of nowhere.

This is not the first time this happens...

Any suggestions ?

Thank you. I tried to look for answers in the discussions but couldn't. I figured I can't be the only one with this proble

You have struck a very common problem with iMovie '09. If you have any speed changes in your project, such as slow motion, make sure you are using the Apple presets - these are 12.5%, 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, 400% and 800%. These are the default slider settings - don't manually enter the %.

Using "custom" speeds, such as 33%, 75% etc, will cause havoc with the audio in your project. This only appears on export - you will not see it in preview.

Thanks you for your help,

I will try this when I get home tonigh. I used custom speed as a tool to make the music match exactly with the video but I will change it back.

Will it fix the problem or do I have to start over again. I guess what I'm saying is, is the damage done already ?

Apple knows about this problem I suppose ? Any mention of fixing it in the future ?

Thanks again !

Yes, using the Apple presets will fix the problem. It will just require a bit of work on your part to, firstly, match the music after changing to the preset speeds. There is no damage as such to your project. iMovie just does something odd with the audio on export. It's a well known bug. Then again It might be a less than stellar design by Apple, with the way the slider is used to adjust the speed.

I think a number of users have reported (via feedback) the issue to Apple, but we don't know if and when it may be fixed. In the interim, just use the presets.

By the way habsolute - welcome to the forum. Hope you get it working OK!

Great, I will try it tonight and report back....

I wish I joined earlier, it would have saved me a lot of headaches with this thing....

I decided to join to check about a WIFI problem with my new Ipad (very poor reception in the house), and decided to ask about the Imovie thing.

I will come here first next time before wasting too much energy on a problem
