Weightlifing spreadsheet

Howdy!

I know there is a template in numbers for weightlifting, but I don't really like it. I was wondering if there is another one anyone has created that I could use? If so, would you mind sharing. Interested in any answers, so even if someone posts one they have created, please post more. I might not like the first one I get.

Thanks so much!

Jerry,

What you are talking is similar to what I want to do. What you say about the way numbers charts the weight is not realistic. I don't want to see the how much I have improved in weight lifted, not the product of weight times reps. (would you be able to send me your spreadsheet?).

What we do right now in our workout is 3 sets of 10 reps on each type of lift (bench press, bicep curls, tricep curls, etc....). If I can do 3 sets of 10 pretty easily, I then up the weight by 5 or 10 lbs a side the next time I exercise (usually do upper body one day and lower body the next).

I would like to track that each day and be able to graph say each items weight over time (how has my bench press improved over the last month).

Does that make sense?

Thanks guys!!

Too general a statement of the goal to do much with, Tim. There's not much indication where to start.

Try again, and assume that no one here knows anything about what you want to track and how you want to track it.

Here's the top left corner of a really basic template for the task. What would you change on it to make it fit your needs?

You mentioned the Workout Tracker template supplied with Numbers. What revisions to that template are needed to fit your needs?

Tim,

As Barry suggested, you probably will want to have the Date in a Header. Then too, you will list your types of lifts. Beyond that, It depends on how you structure your workout. I normally do up to three sets of up to 15 reps for each lift type, so for each exercise I have three sets of rep/weight data per date. This is because I may change the reps or weight mid-stream and I want that recorded. I also have check boxes for Increase/Decrease to indicate if I want to change the resistance or reps on the next workout based on how I feel about the load during the current workout. I've never felt that I would be interested in charting the data because it's not clear to me what the best parameter for charting would be. If I recall correctly, the Numbers example calculates the resistance*rep products and charts them. To me, those numbers are not easy to relate to. Good luck with your project and if you need any help with programming specifics, let us know.

Jerry
