Unlimited plan on iPad 3G

I ordered my iPad on May 24, and received it today, June 7. It did indeed offer me the option to choose the $29.99 unlimited plan, which I promptly did!

Evidently, the info posted on the Apple Store site about ORDERING before June 6 was a fact. I was afraid that I would have had to ACTIVATE the iPad prior to June 6 for the unlimited plan to be available.

Just my personal experience, and I hope this answers some concerns that some have had about the availability of the unlimited plan.

Good news. I still wonder if those who purchased the iPad a few weeks ago can still sign up for the unlimited plan. I did it last night at about 11:45PM, just in case.

I just recieved my Ipad-3G that I ordered from the Apple Store on May 21, 2010 When I went to sign up for the unlimited data plan I Was only given the option for the 2 new limited data plans. After contacting Apple expert they instructed me to contact AT&T that thye could not do anything for me since AT&T was responsible for activating the data plan. I contacted AT&T and while the person I spoke to was very helpful they had no idea of how to setup an unlimited account for the IPad-3G. After an hour of them trying to find someone to help I was informed by AT&T that I could not sign up for the unlimited data plan and would have to choose either one of the 2 new ones. The At&T customer service rep did open and case and promosed to call me back this afternoon so I will post any updates when I hear back form AT&T.

I will be very interested in seeing what happens with this, just for curiosity's sake. Especially those that ordered before the 7th and get it after the 7th. My mom has been bugging me ever since I got mine in, but is now glad I didn't get her one just because of what AT&T is doing. But then she fell in love with it again after using it for a few hours. So I may still be out a few hundred dollars. Dang mothers. 🙂

After numerous phone conversations and waiting, I'm now waiting for AT&T advanced Tech. to get back to me this afternoon. They are in the process of trying to figure out how to acitvate my IPad for the unlimited dat pla.
From what I was finally told by AT&T, Ipads ordered before June 6 will be eligible for the unlimted data plan. It should automatically show up as an option when you acitvate you cellular plan. My Ipad was from what I have been told not registered but they are working on doing that now.
I will follow up when I have heard back from AT&T and activated my account
Hope this helps the others that were as confused as I was on whether the unlimited plan would be available to people that ordered before June 6.

Still waiting for the unlimited data plan. After not hearing back from AT&T I contacted Apple Support again today.
I was then transferred to a person at AT&T that was suppossed to help me. The person at AT&T tried several things but then came back and said nothing would work and I would have to take one of the new plans.
Absolutely not, I bought the more expensive IPad 3G on May 21, 2010 specifically for the unlimited data plan not the new plans.
I cannot believe it has been 3 days since I recieved my IPad 3G and I still have yet to have this issue resolved especially considering that Apple's own website states:

*What are the 3G data plan options from AT&T?*

*There are two monthly data plans: 250MB or 2GB. Customers who order iPad from the Apple Online Store by June 6th will also qualify to purchase an unlimited monthly plan. There’s no contract, and you can sign up and change your service right on your iPad. In addition, AT&T data plans include unlimited access to over 20,000 Wi-Fi hotspots at locations including Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, and more.*

Unbelieveable!

I hope you do get your unlimited plan. However, you mentioned that you ordered it at the Apple Store. Was that a retail store? It's quite possible that if you didn't order it from the "online" store the product you received was not updated to reflect all three of the plans. It states quite clearly that the order has to be from the online store. Good luck!
