Old Airport Extreme trouble

I have an old Airport Extreme (circa 2003) which has been running great until lately. The last few days I have lost connection to the net but was able to eventually get it back. Today is another story, no connection via the airport. I have tried everything I know to do. I tried a soft reset and a reset restoring it to factory settings. Still no luck. How can I tell if it's beyond repair? When it's on the right light is solid to flickering not flashing as the manual suggests it should be. What makes me think that I've missed something is that the computer does see the network and shows a strong signal. Any help or suggestions will greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
