Safari 5 crashes on networked home users

I've installed Safari 5 on a machine that has networked home users.
As a local admin, Safari runs fine, but if I login as a networked home user, Safari crashes. Client and server are running 10.5.8.

ACSA, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Same situation - elementary school with about 90 iMacs - 60 of which ares still on 10.5.8 - Xserve running 10.6 server.

I am NOT managing Applications via WGM, just managing what Apps appear in the Dock for each workgroup.

All of the 10.5.8. machines are unable to launch Safari 5, while the 10.6 iMacs are fine.

Until resolved, I'm having all users launch Google Chrome, and set it as their default browser.

Same here. Users with network home folders crash on startup. Mobile home folders are fine. It also works fine on PowerPC Macs with network home folders, so it looks like an issue with the Intel code, hence the Rosetta workaround on Intel machines.

I found that if I change the protocol from AFP to NFS on the server home folders, safari 5 will launch.

I am dissecting the Safari 5.0 installer right now to figure out where it installs files, so that I can uninstall and downgrade to Safari 4.05.

I'll post an update if I get it to work.

Safari 5 works fine with network user (10.5.8), if the user is also admin of the computer.

Have you found a suitable way to downgrade to SF405?

I got it work onto one machine. Tried first to deploy to another machine, but the it didn't work.

Rossetta works indeed, but then I couldn't use the new reader function.
Instead I'm redirecting the Safari folder to the local drive. Only one network home user installed this in her machine. So now the rest have to wait for an Safari 5.0.1...

I tested this also with a new created network home user, and here Safari also works without the redirect.

Yep, bit me this morning. Only for home directories on 10.5.8 Server. 10.6.3 client has no problem. But I only have 3 of those on new MacBooks, everything else is 10.5.8 clients in the labs.
