Removing bing from safari 5 toolbar

You have only three choices (Safari/General preferences).
Bookmark any search engine if you wish.

I'd also like to know how to remove Bing! I hate that search engine and I'd like to remove all references to it. Does anyone know if there's some file to edit or if there's a Terminal command to make that search engine dissapear from the list of available search engines?

If you don't like it, then change your default to Yahoo or (ugh) Google. Some people do like Bing. I for one am glad it is finally there.

In fact the default search engine is (ugh) Google. So you never even have to change anything unless you go into the preferences and change it yourself.

If you want to fix your Google search to a specific Google location, I recommend that you download and install the free plug-in Glims:

which not only does that but much more equally useful stuff!

(It adds items to Safari Preferences).

Not only does it already list a number of search engines and regions, but you can also add any other search engine not already listed in Glims by using the method described here:

Just enter the name you give the search engine in the name field, and the URL for it in the Query URL field.

Saft with Safari 4 has this feature, but it appears to be broken for Safari 5. When it does get working, you can define any number of search engines or sites in the "Shortcuts" list of Saft perferences and then set the default via the list that appears when typing in the Search field by clicking on whichever of the choices that are defined.

One more person serious about removing Bing from Safari. I hope Apple makes an update so that alterations can be made to quick-search.
