iPhone not showing up in iPhoto

Suddenly and out of the blue, my iPhone doesn't show up anymore in iPhoto, so I can't get my photos off the camera :-/

I've not changed anything that I can think of so I don't get why it suddenly doesn't work anymore. I couldn't find support on this issue so I'm asking here 🙂

Hi there,

My problem: I can't charge my Iphone's pictures to my computer.

Since the last upgrade (9.1.1), my Iphone 3GS is no more recognized on my computer as a device. He is by Itunes. It used to work perfectly: ie. when I had new pictures on my iphone, computer recognized it directly with a popup proposing to charge them from iphone to computer.

Consequence is: my iphone is full of pictures I can't charge...

USB ports work fine, iphone not recognized in "Camera and Scanners wizzard", the configs are OK...

I really do not know what to do. Please advise.

Thanks a lot!

Nicolas

I'll try it thanks. God, I'll have to mobileme off all my pics then first, I think when you take them off that way it cuts the size/quality in half 😟

Never mind, can't be helped a guess. Then I'll delete them all and start over, it's gonna take ages as I have many photos, but if it works I'll post back here with the results.

If you have downloaded any pictures from the internet, delete them including ones sent via email and you saved the file to your phone or on MMS.

Remove them all and download them again on your computer instead.

I think the cause of the problem was due to pictures having funny character in the file name or hidden info in the file with special characters.

As soon as you remove these problem files iPhoto should pick ip straight away and you will be good to go.

I recently had this frustrating problem with my iphone not showing up on iphotos when connected. I have a 3G. My husband has the original iphone. When his was connected, it showed up on iphotos, when mine was connected, nothing. SO issue was definitely to do with my actual iphone and not any settings on iphotos.

After reading the posts above, I proceeded to delete many images I had downloaded from websites/mms and those that were emailed to me.

This still did not fix the issue.

The only MMS files I did not delete were a couple of videos my friend with the 3GS had sent to me. I did not want to delete these because there isn't an option to email those to myself... so I HAD to delete them too. As soon as I deleted those two videos, iphoto found my iphone! Amazing!

Only issue now is how do I get my videos off my phone?!!
On the MMS there is only an option to "save video" and once saved, in the camera roll, there is only an option to delete video! no email option available!

Did Apple forget to add another option where one could email it or save in another method that did not interfere with iphoto?!

I have solved this, for myself at least.

History, my iPhone stopped being visible anywhere in Mac OS 10.6(.3?) in January (either from a restore to a new replacement MacBook Pro, older had died, or with updates in that timeframe. Neither the OS or any applications could see the camera, not iPhoto, Image Capture, Adobe Lightroom, etc.

I was able to connect the phone (in non-sync mode) to another Mac with 10.5, and import the photos there, which is 100% nicer that sending them to myself in email 1 by 1, which was a suggestion.

I tried various suggestions from this and other forums, to no avail. I recently hope 10.6.4 update or the iPhone OS v4.0 upgrade would fix it. these also did not help.

I was now gonna delete ALL the caches, after a backup of course, and was going to use the latest version of my preferred clean-up utility, Onyx. <<www.titanium.free.fr>>

They also had a utility called Maintenance I had not used before, and this was the golden ticket.

I ran "Maintenance" with the following selected in the three categories
Maintenance: both selected
Cleaning: All 5 selected
Rebuild: Only "dyld's shared cache" selected

After restart, Success!

Hopefully this works for others.
Remember to ALWAYS Back Up your entire machine before running any clean-up utilities.
