Trouble Connecting Vivitar VS17G Digital Camera to iPhoto

When I plug in the Vivitar VS17G Digital Camera to my iMac via USB with the latest version of iPhoto running, nothing happens. I am accustomed to the photos on my digital cameras being displayed immediately on iPhoto when the camera is plugged in and turned on. Can somebody tell me what I should do? Is the camera supported by iPhoto? Any ideas? Thank you.

Have you used this camera with iPhoto successfully before? Try using Image Capture and see if it can see the camera. If it can you will be able to upload the photos to a folder on the desktop and from there into iPhoto.

According to the camera's manual it is supported by Mac.

• Macintosh with Intel processor running Mac OS X v10.4.6 or later
• 256 MB RAM, 100 MB free disk space
• Display: 1024 x 768 or higher-resolution monitor
• QuickTime 6 or higher
• Internet connection required

Don't know why the internet connection is needed. You may have to use the software that came with it to get the photos off: Image Zone.

The manual is here if you want it: http://www.vivitar.com/files_products/313/vs17-18gb.pdf
