Thinking of wall mounting the iMac 27" and just wanted to know the weight of it so I can get the correct bracket/mount for its weight, anyone know or seen the spec for this?
You will need the VESA Mount Adapter Kit for 24-inch/27-inch iMac and 24-inch LED Cinema Display. Any VESA MIS-D, 100, C type mounting system (100 mm × 100 mm hole pattern) should work with it, since they are rated for up to almost exactly the full weight of the 27" iMac with its normal mounting stand attached (30.5 pounds).
Thanks RCR, yeah yet to get the apple mounting kit so havnt taken off the stand. I'm thinking it should weight 2-3kg so could look for wall mounts up to 10-15kg only?
You will need to get one that meets the VESA attachment standard for the adaptor, all of which should be rated for up to 14 kg loads. The most important thing will be to make sure the mount is secured to the wall strongly enough to support the combined weight of the iMac & mount, especially if it is a pivoting or extendable wall mount that positions the iMac away from the wall, increasing the torque on the wall attachment points.
