Epub with DRM

Is is currently possible to read a public library book, in epub format, with DRM on an iPad? I can get them on my MacBook using the software that the library links to but when the books are dragged to my iPad they cannot be opened. Is it possible to load the library software on the ipad and download directly there instead of through the MacBook? Any help would be great.

MacBook Pro 13", Mac OS X (10.6.3)

For many libraries, you can use Overdrive Media Console. It works with digital books from many Colorado library systems.

Thank you both for your response. I guess I should have been more specific. I would like to read books, not listen to audio books. It seems as though the Overdrive Console and application are intended for audio books not the ebooks. Again, thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. If I am mistaken about the Overdirve Console or App, please let me know.
