RAM for iMac G5

Hi

I'm new to this forum and am looking for some advice on upgrading the RAM on my iMac G5 please!

It currently has the standard 512 MB and I would like to upgrade to 2GB - please could anyone advise me as to where I can purchase compatible RAM and whether it is simple enought to install myself? I want to install iLife 09 before embarking on the new adventure that is iPad!

Thanks

iMac G5, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Hey Natty and welcome to Apple Discussions,
Installing RAM in any of the G5 iMacs is a simple matter. However it depends on which model you have. Basically it depends on whether it's an iSight model (With the camera built in. There will be a black dot at the top center of the front bezel where the camera is.) or an ALS model. (No black dot. No camera.)

The one thing you have to make sure of after your receive the RAM is , when you install it, PUSH harder than you think possible, it takes quite a bit of force to seat the RAM properly, really push hard until you hear the click. Then go to About this Mac in the Menu bar under the  and make sure that the proper amount of memory is listed.
