MacBook Pro can't EVEN see iPad!

I've seen lots of discussion on iTunes not seeing the iPad but I can't even see it on my desktop! I have in the past but now I can't. I have a brand new MacBook Pro so having an outdated system isn't the issue. I'm in the process of deleting/reinstalling itunes (FULL deletion) but given that I can't see it as an extra hard drive I don't think that will solve anything.

I did try using a different cable from an iPod I own but that didn't work.

I also reset it pressing the reset and power button. Nope, no success.

Any solutions or anybody else with this same issue?

Sorry. I thought it would be understood that it couldn't be seen in iTunes. I'm hoping the re-installation of iTunes will help.

What I noticed was that there were bumps in the mac I migrated from with a click iPod I have and still have a few issues with this Mac. (With the iPod and now the iPad.) The image was already on this mac but I"m not sure if the old itunes from the other mac overruled this one. (The preferences DID take over because that's what I selected.) It's the first time I migrated.

Here's hoping re-installing solves the issue and it remains solved. However, Apple needs to recognize that there's something amiss out there.

I'm in the same boat here.
Luckily, I have an old G5 PPC!!!
Who would have thought that this would come in handy
for something I've been looking forward to for almost a year.

Ipad will continue to work the bugs out, next week there
is a new OS update, maybe that will help.

Apple doesn't have the greatest reputation for releasing
brand new products without TONS of bugs. I'm amazed at
their hurry to get each thing on the market.

The zealous and impulsive, people like me, wind up feeling
guilty for not waiting. Anybody that is thinking of an ipad,
new iphone OS4, or any new apple technology, it's time honored
good advice to let 6 months to a year before you dive in.
Prices go down, apps and options for apps go way up,
and improvement/fixes are updated.

I do it every time, and the same thing happens every time,
when will I learn??
