Help! Programming a Pistol shot sound effect

None of the many gunshot FX that come with Logic aren't good enough for your purposes?

Have you tried googling sound FX? There are quit a few free sites out there with samples of varying quality/usefulness.

Logic comes with 50gigabytes of content, including all the Soundtrack Pro content which includes a whole bunch of sound FX for film foley work.

(iLife also has some sound FX content which is also accessible in the same way.)

Open the loop browser, make sure you are looking in "All" contents, and click the "FX' tab at the top right of the loop browser.

Now you can browse the FX - I suggest searching for "gunshot" or similar...

Lots of useful, royalty free stuff in there to use.

Probably, but rather than using a crappy low quality GM soundset (as they typically are), I'd rather check out the Soundtrack Pro foley library first. Especially as it's pretty decent, and royalty free.

Sorry, if you wanted a direct Mainstage solution you'd be better off posting in the Mainstage forum, not the Logic one.

I don't think Mainstage gives you access to the loop browser, but in any case - just use Logic to find your sounds, and export them, or save channel strip presets, and call them up in Mainstage.

Isn't the gunshot sound part of any General MIDI (GM) soundset...? Along with 'Helicopter', 'Applause' etc?
