Unable to open iTunes

I have downloaded and installed iTunes 9.1.1 on my computer, which meets the minimum spec. requirements, I also have the latest version of quicktime installed and run Windows Vista.

Whenever I try to open iTunes it doesn't open it, instead it says there is a problem and it reads "To protect your computer, Data Execution Prevention has closed iTunes."

I have tried to make iTunes one of the programs DEP does not read, but it won't let me claiming that "DEP must monitor iTunes" or something like that.

Anyone help?

Does Quicktime work normally? Itunes cannot work if Quicktime doesn't.

Problems with CODECs are a common cause of DEP errors in Quicktime appearing immediately after an upgrade.

If Quicktime doesn't work, and you installed any of teh following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx, Xilisoft converter)

If so uninstall them, they are know to cause problems with QUickitme.

Then download the version of Quickime without iTunes:

Now Remove Quicktime using the method for Quicktime in this article (just Quicktime):
XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925

Vista
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923

When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.

Restart you computer
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts.

If it does you are in a position to find out if iTunes is OK.
