drives on my home network that i keep files (pdf's, doc's, spreadsheets....) I would like to access them from my wifi ipad while it is on the network. Any suggestions
For example... Your at work you left a file on you computer at home. With the iPad you want to be able connect to your computer at home and send that file to you at work. I don't think you can. I know there are apps to send from the iPad to you computer and from your computer to the iPad. But, I don't think you can access your computer hard drive from the iPad and then brows around the drive to find a file and then send it to your iPad.
You can use any of the Remote Desktop Connect apps for the iPad (like LogMeIn, Desktop Connect, iTeleport, etc.) to VIEW such files on your desktop/network, but you won't be able to grab them and move/copy them to your iPad.
I am not looking to access my computers remotely, I have a lacie network drive on my network that i store all my files. I would like to access it through my ipad without having to go through my desktop or laptops. I also don't have a need to do it outside of my home network. Ipad is on the same network as the network drive.
Actually, I just thought of a way you could do it. Connect to your laptop via one of the RDP apps, find the file you want, and then email it to your self or drop it into Dropbox on your laptop. Bingo. Problem solved.
Try filebrowser mention above. See if that will work for you. I have the GoodReader app and I was to able to open the files from filebrowser in that app.
Follow the directios carefully to connect the iPad to your computer and external hard drives.
