Purchase on the ibook store can be deleted and restored

As a new ipad buyer I want to understand the ibook model that apple are using, it appears that the traditional itunes store model where the user makes a single purchase (music, audiobook, video, film) and is responsible for the file (backup) is moving to a more kindle like model across various devices (ipad, ipod touch & iphone).

Has anybody verified that any purchase on the ibook store can be deleted and restored without restriction as suggested in the support document below?

Hopefully this will extend to the desktop to allow ibook viewing on osx/windows machines. I will add my suggestion to the apple feedback form.
