Out of Memory - Final Cut Pro 7

I have about a dozen still images in my project sequence, and when they begin to render I get an "Out of Memory" error.

Final Cut 7 on 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo
OSX 10.6.3
8GB RAM
100GB Available HD Space

Full-resolution RGB JPEG photos taken on Canon Reel EOS digital
DV/DVCPRO - NTSC Sequence

Any ideas as to what can be done to make these images render? I have dumped all my render files and copied to a new sequence and tried again.

Thanks for the help...

IIRC, the max still image size for FCP is 4096 x 2304 (unless things have changed since FCStudio1).

That may be part of your issue, but let us know what the dpi is, as David asked.

EDIT -
72 dpi is correct. You might try sizing the grapics down to 4096x2304 and see if you still have problems.

Are your images on your system drive? FCP recommends they be stored on a different 'scratch' disk. Otherwise the system drive is having to work awfully hard to run the OS, FCP and deal with large graphics...just a thought.

It could simply be some type of corrupted sequence, graphic, render. Try opening a new sequence, then copy/paste your media into a the new sequence. If that doesn't help, open a new project and do the same. If still having issues, create a new user account...lather, rinse, repeat.

Have you run Repair Permissions/Repair Disk and/or tried trashing your prefs? Let us know.

EDIT - BTW, I'm expecting the Hoos to score 12 runs in the bottom of the ninth.

Big 12...YEAH!

USB...not so good.

Why not FW? I don't know the specs on the uni-body and if it offers FW connectivity, but I'm thinking the USB could be causing issues. FCP prefers data to be streamed, whereas USB sends it in packets.

Also, your initial post noted 100Gb available. But on a 1TB drive, that only leaves you with 10% free. You are right at the bare recommended minimum. Most prefer at least 10-15% drive space available. (if not 20%) Drives slow down ALOT as they fill up.

Did you try my other suggestions? My recollection about 'Out of Memory' issues, often had to do with some type of sequence/file/render/project corruption.

Let us know.
